The New Commission headed by the Executive Chairman, Dr. Mike Ushie played host to the Team of Internation Foundation for Electoral Service (IFES).
during the visit the IFES Team talked about partnering to make the electoral process smooth.
The chairman in his response appreciated the IFES team for their visit.
He promised to carry out his responsibility diligently by conducting free, fair and credible Local Government Council elections in the state. He also enjoined them to collaborate with his commission to deliver on credible elections.
On the 12th - 14th December, 2016 CROSIEC had a town hall meetings with political parties, stakeholders, youth leaders, civil society organizations, traditional rulers, security agencies across the three senatorial districts of the Cross River State.
Dr. Ushie Michael Anake was born in Begiagba Bendi II, Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State in April, 1975. He attended Bendi Technical College, Obanliku, in Cross River State from 1985 to 1991 and obtained SSCE in 1991. He undertook his undergraduate studies at the University of Calabar, from 1996 to 2000 for a B.Sc Honors Sociology (Second Class Upper Division). Following his one year NYSC at Girls Secondary School, Miringa in Biu L.G.A, Borno State, he enrolled at the Same University for Post Graduate Studies and obtained a Masters Degree in Industrial Sociology (M.Sc) and post graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in 2005 respectively. Dr. Mike Ushie began his academic career as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Calabar in 2008 having put in two years as a Lecturer at the Federal College of Education, Obudu, where he proceeded to study for his Doctorate in Demography with special interest in Reproductive Health. He bagged a PhD in Demogaphy in 2010 from the University of Calabar. He is a team player and a committed member of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU-UCB) Branch, which until his appointment was the Investment Secretary, a union that believes in integrity. A distinguished academic and scholar, he as published over forty five (45) articles in reputable peer review journals. He was an Examination Coordinator, a position he instilled discipline, integrity and efficiency. He is a member of many professional bodies and has participated in many international funded researches, one of which is the Cross River health and Demographic Surveillance System (CRHDSS) sponsored by IDRC, Canada as the Field Supervisor. Dr. Mike has participated in many State and National elections. He is a digitally minded person with a clear vision and mission for CROSIEC. He was appointed as the third Chairman and Chief Executive of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC).
